The important thing to remember is that it is the journey that counts, not the destination..

"Most of our lives are a series of images, they pass us by like towns on a highway. But sometimes a moment stuns us as it happens and we know that this instant is more than a fleeting image. We know that this moment, every part of it, will live on forever."-Lucas Eugene Scott [One Tree Hill, Season Three]

My posts will be about life, influenced by all the moments and memories that inspire, challenge and touch me..

Thought of the Day 22/03/13

I love the idea of picking a quote to sum up my thoughts or feelings for a day..

22/03/13

This year I have made a really big effort to just let things BE.
You cannot control everything - situations, people.. Stress and worry are not good for you.
No one should keep that negativity around, if something is out of your control, you need to try and let it go. At least put it out of your mind, focus on other things.
Sometimes you just need to move on or spend your time another way. Focus on positive things.

I have had a couple of things happen this year that I have just had to move away from. I decided that 2013 would be my year, and have kept focused on that. I cannot control how other people will act. I can control how I act or how I let things affect me.

So what I am saying is, if things don't seem to be working out - if there is conflict with friends or family, that cute boy seems to have dropped off the earth or you are finding life difficult... take some time to refocus, breathe and just BE. Appreciate flowers, a sunny day, play your favourite song, get some sleep. Make sure you surround yourself with people who make you happy and positive.

If something is meant to be, it really will happen ... all in due time.
I believe it.

§  Have octoberfest in Germany

§  Spend 2-4 weeks in Italy

§  Climb Sydney Harbour Bridge

§  Go on the London eye

§  Climb the Eiffel Tower (bonus if have champagne there)

§  Spend NYE in Times Square, New York

§  Ride horseback on a beach or at sunset

§  Ride a camel

§  Have a guinness or spend St Patrick’s Day in Ireland

§  Go to Stonehenge

§  See a show at the Moulin Rouge

§  Buy a pair of Manolo Blahniks

§  Go see Anzac Cove (preferably on Anzac Day)

§  Lighten hair – sme version of blonde (caramel, raspberry etc)

§  Go to a gun range

* Achieve my ideal weight

§  Take part in a masquerade ball

§  Throw a drink in someone’s face

The list is random and just full of things I have always wanted to do, I am sure I will add to it. But this is how it stands as of 30.12.2012.
Looking forward to completing this, What I love about it is that it feeds my current state of wanderlust! Do you have a bucket list, or item you really want to complete?

A New Year, A New You…

So welcome to 2013, by now we are just over a month in and I would say getting pretty settled into the New Year and what it could mean for us so far. I want to stop here for a moment, this year is not “just another year” but it will be, if you let it.

I made the decision before New Years Eve that 2013 would be AMAZING! I figured a few of the past years had been plagued with the kind of luck that gets written up and acted out on various television shows, so why shouldn’t 2013 be lucky? Considering the number 13 is considered unlucky, I made up my mind that 2013 is going to be lucky for me. The saying I have used of late is “if you think it, it will come…” which not only reinforces the benefits of having a positive outlook but reflects just how damaging negative thoughts and feelings (particularly towards yourself) can be.

As we all do, I have work and responsibilities, but I have decided to make this year great. Every chance I can. I started it with a bang and I am going to continue to squeeze the life out of this year, every drop – why waste life? I don’t want to look back on life and regret what I did not do.

Last year I made lists of things I wanted to achieve, a friend of my sister’s told me how much she loved it, she called it “a total commitment to living”, and I loved that description (so thankyou Odette, that really motivated me!). These lists of mine also encouraged some of my friends to do the same. Late last year, during a night of laughter, games and drinks (many many), three friends and I wrote out our bucket lists – to be completed by age 30. There is everything and nothing on these lists – that’s my way of saying big and little things. I am so excited. If we do it, we’re thinking a trip to Vegas… cause, why not right? The whole idea of these lists is to get out there and DO something. Be someone. If the list I have written doesn’t get fully completed but I have achieved other worthy things in the meantime I will be happy.

As my regular readers of this blog know, I do not write regularly, I try to just write really worthwhile posts. I am maintaining that thought, but I will be writing more. I have a lot to say. I will have a voice and I will act. To see the bucket list … click here.. and keep coming back as I update it!

Live life and make the most of 2013,

My Motivation..

I have a quote that is absolutley my favourite. It gives me hope, inspires me and motivates me to keep moving forward (no matter how little or big the steps) and participating in life. The quote is:

This quote has helped me during some really dark times, when I have struggled with faith, hope or identity. Allowing me to stop and breathe, to realise that no matter what life throws at you, it will be ok. It has to.

As Will said to Grace, your story doesn't end here if it is meant to have a happy ending.

I don't believe everything is pre-determined by fate, we have the ability to make choices and decisions which ultimatley work to shape not only our experiences but the person we are and the kind of person others percieve us to be. YOU can still make a change, or improve your outlook. So you are having a bad day, it doesn't have to mean that you have a bad life.

Try it the next time you feel like all hope is lost,

"Everything will be okay in the end...if it's not okay, it's not the end"

This helps me to believe that something amazing is on the way!

Breathe,
